Did you manage to get a decent amount? I was always told they are ready to pick just after the first frosts. I am really lucky as I have just moved to a new house and the mile long country lane leading to it has loads of blackthorn. Problem is my neighbors know it too!

Absolutely fantastic fun-filled day from begining to end. Having Santa at the end of the day was the icing on the cake certainly (in my opinion) the best way to do it. Not a minute to get bored! Amazing day, brilliant staff (Apart from the miserable carousel attendant). Definately recommend.

An excellent newssheet. I am particularly interested in self catering cottages that take two dogs. I searched and found this very easily. Also lots of circular walks of varying lengths that could be printed off would be especially good (apologies if you already do that and I have not spotted!)

For the second time this month I have seen a pair of Osprey
both fishing and calling on Sweethope Lough, Kirkharle,
Northumberland. Often perched on a dead tree on a small island. They didn't catch anything while I was there although
they dived at the water a number of times.
Are they the Kielder pair or others ?.
Sincerely,
R Sutterby

I wish to nominate Belsay Hall for the countryfile award as members of English National Heritage we go regularly to Belsyay as it is a lovely place to walk through and have a picnic. All seasons have lovely blooms especially the Rhodedensrums, the snowdrops in spring and the summer flowers. The castle and Hall are interesting too as they have exhibitions there which are very popular with the public. Northumberland is a beautiful area and as a Scots person I love living in this area.
