Taking place from 22 – 30 October, places across the North East will be holding a host of trails, walks, wanders and rambles to encourage everyone to put their best foot forward and join in the fun.
Walking doesn’t have to be hard work, and to coincide with the festival, the Trust are launching 10 new ‘Easy Walks’ in the region at iconic places such as Hadrian’s Wall and Housesteads Fort, Penshaw Monument and Lindisfarne Castle.
Designed as self-led, Easy Walks are exactly what they claim to be – easy! But they’re also great fun, generally less than two miles in length and will take you across good, flat surfaces without the need for heavy walking boots.
They also have a key theme or story that is special to the place where they are based and can be downloaded with a colour map to help you navigate.
